Fahey: Red Rooster Cafe to relocate in Beaufort
The former Red Lobster and Olive Garden building in Beaufort has a new tenant.
And although it's new to 2045 Boundary St., the restaurant is a familiar one in the city: Red Rooster Cafe.
"The property is being sold," said owner Courtney Keith, about Red Rooster's current location. The cafe has been at 1210 Ribaut Road for five years.
Keith said when considering a new spot, it was important for her to stay in Beaufort. She said the Boundary Street location was not only available at the right time, it provided more space.
Keith is quick to note the restaurant will largely stay the same.
"We're going to keep it as familiar as we can," Keith said.
As the restaurant is already divided into two spaces, the former Red Lobster side will be open for breakfast and lunch and, tentatively by February, the former Olive Garden side will be open for dinner. Keith is planning an expansion for her dinner menu.
"It'll be a lot of seafood," she said. "We'll have comfort food, steaks, a good mix of food." She said the atmosphere will be slightly more upscale, but will "still be casual."
On the former Red Lobster side of the restaurant, Keith is planning to add a milkshake and coffee bar.
The former Olive Garden side will have an alcohol bar.
Keith hopes to open the restaurant at its new address by Christmas. She said Red Rooster will introduce Sunday hours shortly after opening.
