State revokes license of former Lady's Island teacher accused of molestation

The S.C. State Board of Education has permanently revoked the license of a former Lady's Island Middle School teacher accused of groping a minor.

Christopher Lamont Guy, 31, was arrested June 17 and charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor. He resigned from the Beaufort County School District the next day, according to the board's order and was permanently stripped of his educator's certificate Nov. 10.

Guy had at least five years of teaching experience before he came to the Beaufort County School District in 2013.

He was hired as a special-education teacher at Robert Smalls Middle School and then worked at Lady's Island Middle until 2015, according to the district.

He was arrested June 17 after a female relative reported to the Beaufort Police Department that Guy had inappropriately touched her daughter.

The incident with the 13-year-old victim allegedly occurred at Guy's Lafeyette Street home in the city of Beaufort, police said at the time.

Later that day, Guy admitted he entered a bedroom when he believed the victim was asleep and touched her beneath her clothing on more than one occasion, according to the state's order.

On one occasion, the order said, he also forced the victim to touch him inappropriately.

Guy's license was suspended June 23.

His third-degree criminal sexual conduct case is pending in Beaufort County court.

Guy was indicted Sept. 17 and remains in the Beaufort County Detention Center with bond set at $25,000.
