Port Royal mayor, town council candidates to debate Thursday
Port Royal mayoral and Town Council candidates will meet in a forum at the Port Royal Elementary School on Thursday at 6 p.m.
For mayor, Sam Murray is trying to keep his seat while facing a challenge from Chuck Wood and Kristina Wetzel. Another would-be candidate, John Winner, has withdrawn.
For council, Darryl Owens, Jerry Ashmore and incumbent Tom Klein are running for two open seats.
The debate and Nov. 3 election fall in the midst of another attempted sale of the Port of Port Royal. The future of the property is sure to be a primary topic.
