The dock at Pigeon Point boat landing could be completed within about three weeks, Beaufort city manager Bill Prokop said Tuesday.

The dock will be shipped to a contractor and repaired and is expected to be back in place by the middle of October. In August, a fisherman reported the dock at the end of Pigeon Point road felt unsteady, and it was closed.

Beaufort public works director Lamar Taylor said significant boat wake in the area could have affected the structure.

The work will be paid for with money the city budgeted for unexpected repairs, according to an August release.
