One Beaufort car dealership complete, another in progress
Just less than a year after the demolition of its new-car dealership, Stokes Honda Cars of Beaufort has opened its new building at the same location.
The lot, near the intersection of Robert Smalls Parkway and Trask Farm Road in Beaufort, opened Wednesday and is open from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays.
Stokes Honda had been operating out of its used-car center next door during construction. The new facility has an expanded showroom and service department.
Attempts Thursday and Friday to reach a spokesperson for comment were unsuccessful.
Directly across Robert Smalls Parkway, Vaden Automotive Group of Beaufort is chugging along with renovations to the former O.C. Welch Ford Lincoln Mercury dealership.
Office manager Kim Barrineau said the work should be completed by the end of January. A grand opening to announce the dealership's move from 2811 Boundary St. is planned. Vaden has leased its current location, the former Parks Automotive Group's General Motors dealership, for about three years.
"There are actually walls right now, and we can actually see what things are going to be," she said. "Seeing that we're all going to be in one building, this is going to be great."
