Beaufort Restaurant Week starts today. Here are menus and what you need to know

For 11 days in January — starting today — restaurants in Beaufort, Port Royal and the Sea Islands are celebrating Restaurant Week. They’ll have menu specials and deals, making it the perfect time to try a new lunch or dinner spot or revisit an old favorite.
A few of the restaurants are offering special prix fixe menus for lunch, and the variety of main courses on the dinner menus runs from traditional, such as frogmore stew, to the exotic. Bison short ribs, anyone? There are even some vegetarian options sprinkled throughout.
Restaurant Week runs through Jan. 19. The event coincides with Restaurant Week South Carolina, which explains online why an event with “week” in the name lasts 11 days. The more days to eat, the better, the website says.
Restaurants in Hilton Head and Bluffton will participate in a separate Chamber Restaurant Week scheduled for Feb. 3-9.
