Family offers $40,000 for answers that help solve Ridgeland murder
The family of a Ridgeland man killed in Jasper County in May 2017 is offering a reward of up to $40,000 for information that could help the homicide investigation, according to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office.
Jamol “Marty” Horton, 41, was found around 6:30 a.m. on May 2, 2017, with a gunshot wound to his chest inside an Oak Park Road home in the Wagon Branch area. He was taken to Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah, where he later died.
Horton’s family is now offering a financial reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction for anyone involved in their loved one’s death, according to a flyer sent out by the family and shared by the Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday.
At the time, the Sheriff’s Office believed Horton had been “ambushed and robbed,” according to the Jasper County Sun Times.
“He was loved by many and his family remains devastated by the loss,” the flyer reads. “His murderers do not deserve to walk around in the community like nothing happened. Do the right thing. Justice for Marty.”
Anyone with information can contact the Sheriff’s Office at 843-726-7779 ext. 4163 or call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-888-Crime-SC.
