Gun recovered, investigation continues after Burton shooting
The shotgun used in a Burton Saturday morning shooting was recovered and the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate.
One man was injured after a shooting at a Sonya Faye Lane home Saturday morning, according to a Saturday evening Sheriff’s Office news release. He was initially taken to Beaufort Memorial Hospital, but was later flown to the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston for treatment. There is no further update on his condition.
Police were alerted to the shooting when the victim approached a deputy at a nearby gas station, according to a Saturday morning release. The man drove himself to the business near Roseida Road after he was shot. The Sheriff’s Office also received a 911 call from an adult male at the residence where the shooting occurred.
No charges have been filed in connection with the incident, but everyone involved has been identified and located, according to the release. The gun was found at the home and the shooting remains under investigation. Throughout the day on Saturday, investigators collected evidence at the scene and interviewed witnesses. There is no threat to the public.
