A long-anticipated restaurant has opened in Old Town Bluffton to positive reviews from customers.

The Greenhouse, located at 1260 May River Road, offers Lowcountry-inspired meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It boasts a second-floor speakeasy with its own bar and food menus.

The Greenhouse was co-founded by sisters Jennifer and Melissa Perri. They describe The Greenhouse as their love letter to Bluffton, according to its website.

Here’s a peek at The Greenhouse’s offerings and what customers have to say about it:

What’s The Greenhouse offering?

The Greenhouse offers menus for brunch and dinner, and for its speakeasy bar food. Its website describes the cuisine as new American. American staples such as trout, crab, steak and burgers are available across the three menus.

Menu items feature some international flare. The Greenhouse-style burger comes with chimichurri, grilled onion and white cheddar cheese. Chimichurri is a South American sauce used as a topping for meats.

The majority of menu items are shareables, including but not limited to salads, a clam dish, Korean-style fried chicken and crab dip. If you’re looking for something sweet, their menu offers cake, cheesecake, chocolate mousse and ice cream.

The brunch menu offers breakfast items such as chicken and waffles, French toast and steak and eggs. A breakfast-inspired burger topped with egg, bacon and glazed onion is also available.

The speakeasy’s menu offers its own suite of meals. The majority of items are also available on the dinner menu, except for a few, such as the lobster toast.

The first-floor bar and speakeasy offer drink menus with multiple cocktail options. The speakeasy’s cocktails are not available at the first-floor bar.

What customers are saying

The Greenhouse has a 4.1 star average rating on the review and reservation site OpenTable. Reviewers rated its ambience the highest at 4.5, and its value the lowest at 3.9. The overarching sentiment from reviewers is positive but with some caveats.

Many reviewers praised its decor and service, while others said it can become noisy around dinner time. Multiple reviews suggested expanding the menu with more options. Speakeasy visitors appreciated the cocktail selection and enjoyed their drinks.

The Greenhouse allows walk-ins for its restaurant and downstairs bar. The speakeasy requires a reservation. Free parking is available at the restaurant.
