Correction 2/17/2026 3:23 PM: A previous version of this story erroneously referred to Paul Norris as a partner in both Nectar Old Town Bluffton and Nectar Hilton Head. Norris is a partner at Nectar’s Bluffton location but not the Hilton Head location. Additionally, other titles and roles have been clarified in the story.

A new waterfront restaurant featuring views of the majestic Broad Creek is underway on Hilton Head Island.

Marsh Side Restaurant & Bar, which will be in the Broad Creek Marina complex, is set to open sometime in Spring 2027.

Broad Creek Marina is partnering with Paul Norris with SERG Restaurant Group and several of his partners to open the new restaurant.

Nate Jones, the Vice President and General Manager of Broad Creek Marina, said he and Norris have known each other for years because their kids go to school together.

“Paul and I have been working on this partnership for over two years, discussing it at kids birthday parties, school functions,” he said. “We knew that site has been open for some time and ... really wanted a group of professional restaurateurs to bring this project alive.”

Norris is also a partner and restaurant operations director for Nectar Old Town Bluffton. Chef Chris Carge, who designed the menu at Nectar, is also slated to develop the menu at Marsh Side.

Here’s what to expect

Chris Spargur, who is in charge of design for Marsh Side, called the restaurants’ design “Lowcountry meets New England.”

The space will feel warm and inviting, with nautical-themed design, but not over-the-top.

“Just clean, classic,” Spargur said. “It’s going to feel lived in, but well taken care of.”

The south side of the restaurant facing the Broad Creek Marina will be almost entirely glass, offering patrons striking views of the water. An outdoor deck will provide seasonal dining and lounge space.

The menu will feature local cuisine with a “Mediterranean twist” according to Spargur. Diners shouldn’t expect the typical, deep-fried Lowcountry classics, but instead expect “cleaner, fresher” fare that changes with the seasons. A raw bar will offer a variety of local shrimp, oysters and shellfish.

Like Nectar, prices at Marshside will range somewhere between two to three dollar signs. Spargur said SERG doesn’t want its patrons to think of its restaurants as just for special occasions, but as good places for lunch or dinner on any day.

Competing with Fishcamp?

Two other waterfront restaurants currently operate along the marina. They include Up the Creek Pub & Greek, a casual seafood restaurant owned and operated by Broad Creek Marina, and Fishcamp on Broad Creek, part of Coastal Restaurants and Bars.

According to Jones, Up the Creek will continue to operate as usual.

Fishcamp, which sits right next to the marina, is part of Coastal Restaurants and Bars, another large restaurant group based in Hilton Head. SERG and CRAB are the top two employers in Hilton Head, employing a total of 1556 people as of 2025, according to a Town of Hilton Head Island financial report.

Spargur said he doesn’t think of CRAB as a rival, and doesn’t expect Marsh Side to take business away from Fishcamp. He hopes patrons of Marsh Side might come in for lunch, see Fishcamp and decide to check it out another time.

“I think it’s going to introduce a whole new audience that might not even know about that marina,” Spargur said.

Spargur stressed that SERG is a conglomerate of local restaurant partners, many of whom are members of the community who have lived on the island for decades. Partners invest in different restaurants, but there’s no one partner that has an ownership stake in all of the restaurants.

“A lot of people think we are some big corporate thing,” Spargur said. “We’re just locals. We’re all working in the restaurants. And when we see opportunities for the island ... we take advantage of it.”
