Hilton Head temperatures set to rise after unusual cold snap. Here’s when, how warm
Hilton Head residents can prepare for a thaw after a downright un-Southern cold snap.
After record-low November temperatures swept across the Lowcountry this week, leaving residents questioning their go-to choice of flip-flops, Hilton Head is finally starting to warm back up.
For a region that considers 60 degrees “a little brisk,” seeing temps dip into the 30s this early in November felt nothing short of shocking, with some areas breaking seasonal records.
Fall temperatures for Hilton Head tend to stay mild, often between 60 and 70 degrees. But even as temperatures took a dip well below seasonal norms this week, the National Weather Service says the island’s signature mild, sunny conditions are on their way back — and soon.
By midweek, temperatures are expected to rebound to typical November levels, with daytime highs climbing into the mid-60s by Wednesday and Thursday and continuing to rise as the weekend approaches.
Here’s the detailed outlook for Hilton Head residents:
Wednesday
- Sunny skies during the day, with a high of 66 degrees and an evening low around 48.
Thursday
- Another sunny day with highs reaching 68 and an evening low of 50.
Friday
- Sunny, with another slight temperature rise to 69 degrees and a low of around 51 degrees.
Weekend temps break 70 degrees
The warmup continues into the weekend, when highs are forecast to return to the low 70s — right on par with Hilton Head’s November averages.
Here’s what folks can expect over the weekend:
- Saturday: Sunny, high near 72.
- Sunday: Sunny and warmer, high near 75.
- Monday and Tuesday: Continued sunshine, highs in the low 70s, lows in the mid-50s.
The last time Hilton Head had colder weather was back in January, when the area got a blanket of snow for the first time in 7 years, leaving a dusting on palmetto trees.
That sight alone was enough to make every local pull out their phones to document the unusual sight for the coastal community.
