Hilton Head restaurant one of the best in the South, Southern Living says. Here’s why
When it comes to biscuits, the South takes things seriously.
Now, Southern Living has named one Hilton Head hotspot among the top 12 biscuit restaurants across the region: Bad Biscuit.
Located in the heart of Coligny Plaza, in Unit B2, Bad Biscuit is described as offering “rebellious Southern fare” and has quickly earned a reputation for serving up bold, buttery and creative takes on the Southern classic.
With its funky vibe, customizable menu and devotion to Southern comfort food with a twist, this fast-casual eatery made the cut.
Biscuits by the beach
Open daily from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Bad Biscuit is a favorite for both locals and the island’s many visitors.
The laid-back nook with its eclectic decor invites guests to dig into a menu filled with biscuits, brunch bowls, salads and Southern staples.
Whether you’re craving a hearty Hot Shot Chicken Biscuit, a Fried Green Tomato Biscuit or something off the wall like the Pizza Biscuit, there’s something to surprise and satisfy every Southern food fan.
Guests can also build their own biscuit sandwiches or customize a grits bowl, making every visit a new adventure.

A local vision
Bad Biscuit is the brainchild of longtime Hilton Head local Dave Peck.
A former advertising professional turned chef, Peck has lived on the island for nearly 50 years and spent a decade in the kitchen before launching his biscuit-focused concept in 2019.
With regular biscuits, cheddar biscuits and a rotating “Biscuit of the Day” option, Bad Biscuit keeps things fresh while honoring the Southern biscuit tradition and bringing “a restaurant dedicated to biscuits” to life.
All restaurants on this list were curated and nominated by Southern chefs. Leslie Rohland, chef and owner of The Cottage Café in Bluffton, noted Bad Biscuit as one of the top spots for the list.
Another South Carolina location also made the ranks: Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit in Charleston.
