Chain sandwich shop, Which Wich, has closed its doors in Bluffton, located at 95 Towne Drive in Belfair Towne Village, near Kroger and Truffles Cafe.

Bluffton’s Which Wich location, owned by Lowcountry residents Grant and Lauren Curtis, was their second store. The couple also operated a Which Wich location on Hilton Head Island, which closed 8 years ago and is now home to Al’s Aloha Kitchen.

The reason for their closure in Bluffton was due to the lease agreement.

“Their lease was up at the end of the month and most owners tend to close down when that happens,” said Suzanne Williams, leasing representative for Belfair Towne Village. “Despite their closure, we are excited to see who may take over the space.”

According to Williams, there has been interest in the space, but no purchase or lease agreement has been finalized.

Prior to Which Wich, the space used to be home to Lovin’s Spoons, a frozen-yogurt shop that closed in August of 2015.

The only other nearby Which Wich location is in Pooler, Georgia, located in the Tanger Outlets.

What is Which Wich?

Which Wich is a national franchise based in Dallas and is known for its 52 customizable sandwich options, including turkey, ham, pork, beef, chicken, seafood and vegetarian options.

The franchise lost 134 of its U.S. locations between the start of 2020 and 2023, including 68 stores in 2020 when the pandemic first hit.

The restaurant chain’s footprint has now shrunk from 360 U.S. restaurant locations to about 220. There were more than 430 outlets in mid-2018.

Which Wich also has locations internationally, including London, Oman, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
