Thursday afternoon’s news roundup for Beaufort County. Here are the top stories
Good afternoon on Thursday, Aug. 3.
Here’s today’s top news:
1. Some Beaufort County residents may have noticed a line of bright lights moving through the night sky when it’s not cloudy. Nope, it’s not a constellation of stars or planes in formation. Reporter Sebastian Lee explains what’s happening.
2. This next story may be a little more frightening. Have you heard distant screams echoing in the night? Although bobcats typically go unseen in more populated areas, they do live in this area’s marshes and forested lands. Reporter Sarah Claire McDonald tells you more about what to expect if you see one.
3. It may be over and done by the time this newsletter publishes, but as of 3:30 p.m. Thursday police were conducting a manhunt in the area of the Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport after a person being extradited escaped police custody. Reporter Evan McKenna will be updating this story.
4. Tyler Crispen, the former Hilton Head Island lifeguard turned reality television star, will be back on television next week, competing on a show called “The Challenge: USA.” Find out what this “Hilton Head Hottie,” as his fans called him, has been up to since “Big Brother” and when you can watch him on TV again.
Another headline of note:
- A shakeup in rankings before the SC GOP primary. Who’s up, who’s down?
