‘Big Brother’s’ Hilton Head Hottie returns to TV on new show. How you can watch
Tyler Crispen, the former Hilton Head Island lifeguard turned “Big Brother” reality TV star, will be back on television.
Crispen, who was runner-up and voted America’s Favorite Houseguest on season 20 of the CBS show “Big Brother” in 2018 and also placed 6th on “Big Brother: All Stars” in 2020, is one of 18 former reality TV stars on “The Challenge: USA.”
The first episode of the two-part premiere starts at 10 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, and the second episode airs at 9 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 13, on CBS. Paramount+ with Showtime subscribers will have access to stream live via the live feed of their local CBS affiliate on the service, as well as on demand. Paramount+ Essential subscribers will not have the option to stream live, but will have access to on-demand the day after the episode airs.
Following the premiere, “The Challenge: USA” will air twice a week, at 10 p.m. Thursdays and 9 p.m. Sundays, for three weeks. Starting Aug. 31, it will air at 10 p.m. Thursdays.
Eighteen former stars from “Survivor,” “Big Brother” and “The Amazing Race” will face six “MTV’s The Challenge” veterans in a series of extreme physical contests in Croatia. One man and one woman will walk away with the title of Challenge Champions and split the grand prize of $500,000.
T.J. Lavin returns as host for “The Challenge: USA.” Besides Crispen, other contestants include “Survivor” winners Michele Fitzgerald and Chris Underwood, who lives on John’s Island; “Big Brother” winner Josh Martinez and houseguest Tiffany Mitchell; “The Amazing Race” competitors Luis Colon and Dusty Harris; and the player with the most season wins of “The Challenge” franchise, Johnny “Bananas” DeVenanzio.
Crispen, an Ohio native who lives on Hilton Head, made a name for himself on the 20th season of CBS’s “Big Brother,” the summer reality show that puts a group of diverse and attractive people in a house filled with cameras meant to record their every move. The Cincinnati Enquirer this week called him “the best player who never won.”
During filming, Crispen got involved in a “showmance” with Angela Rummans, another competitor with a Hilton Head connection. Rummans, who was then a fitness model living in Playa Vista, California, grew up on Hilton Head.
The couple, nicknamed “Hilton Head Hotties” and “Tangela” by the show and its fans, both openly expressed that they were in love with each other during the final days of the season. Crispen even said, “I love you,” in a goodbye message to Rummans after she was voted off of the show.
The pairing proved to be more than just for television. In 2019, Crispen and Rummans started a jewelry business together called Naut and Chain and then bought a house on Hilton Head. Rummans also wrote a cookbook and competed on “The Challenge” herself.
In 2021, Crispen and Rummans got engaged on the beach near Hilton Head Resort. Then, in December, US Weekly broke the news that the two had split up.
“The split is seemingly amicable as the former couple still occasionally comment on each other’s Instagram photos,” US Weekly reported.
The trailer released for the upcoming “The Challenge: USA” shows Crispen kissing former “Big Brother” houseguest Alyssa Snider as his voiceover says, “I’m not giving in to temptation. Not this time.”
