Help honor those who served by attending one of these Veterans Day events in Beaufort County

Veterans Day is just around the corner. Beaufort County has plenty of events going on to honor our military veterans.

Here are seven Beaufort County events to visit for Veterans Day this year.

  • Remembering Our Fallen national memorial exhibit will be Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park at 1006 A Street in Beaufort from Nov. 9-13. This is a photographic exhibit that was created to honor our country’s military and those who gave their lives during the Global War on Terror. The exhibit includes over 5,000 of our nation’s fallen from The War on Terror between 9/11/2001 to 8/30/2021.

  • American Legion Post 205 6th Annual Veteran’s Day Parade in Bluffton will be taking place in Old Town Bluffton this year on Nov. 11 from 10-11 a.m. This annual event is free to the public and is sponsored by American Legion Post 205. The parade route will be from Alljoy Road to Calhoun Street, through Promenade Street and ending at Mellichamp Drive.

  • Veterans Day Remembrance Ceremony will once again be taking place in the Shelter Cove Veterans Memorial Park, which can be found at 59 Shelter Cove Lane. The event will take place on Nov. 11 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. and is free and open to the public. The American Legion Alexander Wattay Post 185 and the Military Veterans Coalition of Hilton Head Island will host this year’s Veterans Day ceremony with the keynote speaker being Joe McNamara who is on the Board of Directors of Operation Patriots FOB in Ridgeland. If the event is set to occur during a potential rain forecast, the event will be located at St. Andrew by the Sea at 20 Pope Avenue on Hilton Head Island.

  • Veterans Day Parade 2022 in Beaufort will take place on Nov. 11 and is set to begin at 10 a.m. The parade will begin at Beaufort National Cemetery and is sponsored by the Beaufort County Veterans Affairs Office. For those that cannot attend in-person, the parade will also be broadcast live on television on The County Channel. If inclement weather is to be expected, the parade will be canceled.

  • Veterans Day Lunch will be taking place on the University of South Carolina Beaufort– Bluffton Campus on Nov. 11 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 1 University Boulevard. USCB Sand Shark Veterans will be hosting a lunch to honor the student Veterans. This event is open to the public where attendees may enjoy free food in honor of our nation’s veterans. The lunch will be held in CC 105.

  • Military Appreciation Day will be taking place on Nov. 19 from 1-3 p.m. at Naval Heritage Park in Port Royal. This honorary event will include free hot dogs for the first 1,000 attendees with presentable military identification. In addition, food trucks and “swag bags” will be given out as well as presentations by installation commanders and community leaders will also be at the event.
