Airports in Beaufort County and Savannah are operating as usual as of Thursday. The only change in day-to-day operations because of COVID-19 is an increase in cleaning.

Hilton Head Island Airport

“Everything’s operating like normal at the Hilton Head Island Airport,” said Jon Rembold, director of airports for Beaufort County.

He said the airport has no cancellations related to COVID-19, but there is extra cleaning taking place with a focus on “anything people are touching with their hands.”

He said travelers should check with their airlines if they have questions about specific flights.

Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport

“People are still flying,” said Lori Lynah, director of marketing and air service development for Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport. “It’s not as busy as it was, but from what we’ve seen from the weekend, people are still coming into town.”

There have not been any cancellations at the airport because of the coronavirus, she said.

Airport staff are taking extra precautions by doing their typical cleaning more often throughout the day, especially on “touch points” that may be used by more people. Hand sanitizing stations have been placed throughout the terminals.
