Hilton Head area’s ‘quiet luxury’ subject of Washington Post article
Hilton Head Island and Bluffton real estate got national attention Thursday with the publication of a Washington Post article that recognizes the area for its “quiet luxury.”
The piece, written by Audrey Hoffer, highlights a Colleton River Plantation property currently on sale for nearly $10 million.
The 20,700-square-foot home, filled with furniture and art valued at more than $2 million, is owned by Brock and Elizabeth Rowley.
Hoffer describes the waterfront house as “castle-like” with an interior that “evokes the splendor of a cathedral and elegance of a museum.”
Judy Collins, a real estate agent quoted in the Washington Post piece, said sales of high-end properties around Hilton Head Island are on the rise, “driven mostly by retirement, second-home and investor buyers.”
Compared to many resort and beach communities in other parts of the country, buyers looking for homes in the Lowcountry are “sure to find unprecedented luxury at an enticingly lower price,” Collins told the Post.
While it’s focus is the high-end real estate market in southern Beaufort County, Hoffer’s piece notes that not all homes in the area are luxury properties.
“Small condos are available from around $150,000 and single-family houses from $250,000,” according the article.
