Two new shops join Hilton Head’s Coligny Plaza

Coligny Plaza has gained two new businesses, a coffee shop and boutique, this spring.

Caretta Coffee Co., which takes its name from the Latin for loggerhead sea turtles, features local art on its walls and local roasts in its mugs. The business also serves cafe fare and food to-go, like sandwiches and pastries, craft beers and wine and cheese platters. During Sunday brunch, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., patrons can listen to live violin music.

The shop replaces Java Joe’s, which closed at 1 N. Forest Beach Dr., Suite 101-C last fall after 16 years at Coligny.

“Caretta Coffee Co. elevates the coffee shop experience to a whole new level and brings to life our focus on the art and passion of our locally roasted coffee,” co-owner Gregory Inggs said in a news release. “We wanted to create a place for people to relax and gather with family and friends.”

The cafe is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday.

A new clothing shop, Traveling Chic Boutique, also opened in the plaza this month in the former storefront of Li Li Nails.

It offers vintage boots and apparel, jewelry, handbags from brands like Ark & Co., Chan Luu, Rails, Blue Pepper, Everly and more. The franchise’s website explains that at least half of each store’s merchandise changes from week to week and items are only carried once.

“Beyond the personal, attentive service, we feel we have created a shopping experience that offers customers the best of both worlds at every price point,” owner Brody Kenneweg said in the release.

The boutique is at 6 Lagoon Road, Unit 03 and open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.
