Fahey: Kidz Drop-In Adventure now open on Hilton Head Island
Parents, there's a new place on Hilton Head Island to drop your kids off for a few hours -- or you can stay to play.
Kidz Drop-In Adventure, at 55 Mathews Drive, Unit 190, opened three weeks ago, according to co-owner Jamie Hudson.
"It's an indoor playground," Hudson said. "You can stay with the kids or drop them off."
The center offers hourly child-care services and "stay and play," in addition to monthly events. The facility is also available for birthday parties.
Kidz Drop-In Adventure will host a grand opening 2 to 4 p.m. on Dec. 5. Hudson said there will be a drawing for gift certificates, and characters such as Minnie and Mickey Mouse, the Incredible Hulk, and Santa Claus will be in attendance.
Hudson is operating the business with her sister, Jackie Willard, who recently relocated to Hilton Head.
"We go on vacation all the time," Hudson said.
But traveling with the kids limits the places and events they can attend while out of town -- so, they figured, why not offer an hourly service where kids can play while parents have a night out?
Hudson anticipates business to pick up during the summer, when tourists are in town, but said she has already seen steady traffic from locals.
Kidz Drop-In Adventure is open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Thursday and 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, when Hudson hopes to capture the "date night crowd."
