National chains are moving in and expanding across Beaufort County.

Aldi has announced it will open stores in Bluffton and Beaufort.

This week, developers broke ground on Beaufort Station that will be home to Hobby Lobby, Ross, Ulta, Old Navy, PetSmart, TJ Maxx, Home Goods, Five Below and Rack Room Shoes. That list doesn’t even include the restaurants.

Some residents argue that it is all too much. All the development is changing the vibe of Hilton Head, Bluffton, Port Royal and Beaufort, they say in messages on social media.

But others long for retailers and restaurants found elsewhere, like Trader Joe’s, Kohl’s, or Dave and Busters. If we are going to have new businesses, they might as well be different than the ones we have already, they would say.

Tell us what you think in our survey below. We’ll accept suggestions through Sunday night, and we’ll use the answers in an upcoming poll.
