Luxury day spa opens in renovated Golden Corral building in Bluffton. Take a look inside
Anyone looking for a buffet at the former Golden Corral in Bluffton will find a decidedly different and more luxurious menu at the new spa that has taken its place.
Whisper Creek Day Spa, which has been in its soft-opening phase since May, is marking its official grand opening from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at 1196 Fording Island Road.
A news release calls Whisper Creek the only stand-alone full-service luxury day spa in the area. It has 17 treatment rooms and four private nail rooms, in addition to private event space available for rent.
Golden Corral’s Bluffton location closed in March 2020, and documents filed with the Beaufort County Register of Deeds show the property was sold for $1.64 million on April 9 of that year. Under the new ownership of Robert and Jennifer Wolfe, who relocated from Ohio, the building underwent major renovations.
Robert Wolfe told The Island Packet in May 2020 that the size of the property, 2.5 acres with 159 parking spots around a roughly 12,000-square-foot building, was one of the main draws, as was the location. The site is centrally located for the Bluffton area and still within an easy drive of Hilton Head on U.S. 278, he noted.
Whisper Creek’s services include massage therapy, traditional facials, HydraFacials, manicures and pedicures. The service menu also includes body treatments such as tub soaking, exfoliating scrubs and detoxifying wraps.
The spa’s website includes detailed information about the luxury atmosphere and some unique treatments, such as the bourbon-infused scrub used for men’s manicures and pedicures or CBD pedicure options. Special offerings are available for teens and for women in their first trimester of pregnancy.
The most indulgent package listed on the spa’s website is a four-hour spa day that includes a mangosteen body wrap and facial, a massage and a pedicure for $575. Other packages are geared toward brides-to-be, those celebrating birthdays, couples or “Just for You.”
Massages range from $120 for a 50-minute “Classic Massage” to $370 for a couples hot-stone treatment that takes nearly an hour and a half. Manicures are in the $65 to $85 range depending on the options chosen.
Gift certificates are available on the spa’s website, as is the opportunity to book appointments.
The spa is expected to add a salt-inhalation room in the future, according to the news release.
