The latest business buzz on Hilton Head: There’s a new store that’s all about honey

First there was House of Jerky. Then came House of Popcorn. Now, the local snack food retailer has added a third branch to the family tree with House of Honey on Hilton Head’s south end.

The store that specializes in all things honey-related opened less than a month ago at 1 North Forest Beach Drive, Suite E-3, in Coligny Plaza. While House of Jerky and House of Popcorn are located under the same roof, House of Honey has its own space just around the corner.

The location previously was Hair and Co., a salon that was in business for more than 30 years. Robyn Rowan, who worked at Hair and Co., has moved into a shared space next door at The Cutting Room barber shop.

House of Honey owner Jay Elliot said the first three weeks his new store has been open have been a “tremendous success.”

The store sells several dozen varieties of raw honey, honeycomb and 30 different flavors of honey sticks, along with candles, natural honey soaps and body lotions. In addition, shoppers can find bee-themed merchandise and gifts.

“It’s got a whole different vibe,” Elliot said of the new store.

Customers can try free samples of the honey at a honey bar.

“You can see people walking all over Coligny with honey sticks in their mouths,” Elliot said.

House of Honey’s main supplier is Capital Bee Co. in Savannah, but the shop also carries products from Hilton Head Honey as well as suppliers from the Charlotte area and north Georgia.
