Margaritaville adds a concert area and restaurant. Here’s how you can have a look around
A new fitness center and pools are open at Latitude Margaritaville Hilton Head, and next month the public is invited to take a look around the property.
Residents of the 55-plus residential development along U.S. 278 in Hardeeville now have access to a Fins Up Fitness Center, an indoor pool, courts for tennis and pickleball, the Latitude Bar & Chill restaurant, and Changes in Attitude bar that offers poolside refreshments and dining.
Developers also added a full-sized concert stage with a thatched roof for a band, along with a dancing area and a projection screen, according to a news release from Minto Communities, the Florida-based developer of the Jimmy Buffett-themed property.
William Bullock, division president for Minto, said the projection screen will allow simulcasts of Buffett’s concerts. He said Buffett has been on the Hardeeville property at least twice, though he has not yet performed there.
“You never know when or where he’s going to show up,” Bullock said.
Tickets are on sale now for a Buffett concert at the North Charleston Coliseum on April 16, right in the middle of Hilton Head’s RBC Heritage golf tournament. Minto will be promoting the Latitude Margaritaville community at Heritage this year, Bullock said.
On March 7 from noon to 4 p.m., the public is invited to a celebration at Latitude Margaritaville that will feature “tropical fare, three live bands, dancing, ... stilt-walkers, games, giveaways and model home tours,” according to the news release.
What’s next?
One highlight of the Latitude Town Center area, as the amenities are being called, is a 500,000-gallon, zero-entry pool featuring a tiki-themed bridge and shade structures, said a news release from Omega Construction. A drone photo shows the pool’s vivid blue water surrounded by a sand-colored border and groupings of tiki huts and palms.
“It’s an incredible vibe,” Bullock said.
The timetable on this phase of the Town Center from groundbreaking to completion was less than a year, according to Omega.
In about 18-24 months, work is expected to start on Phase 2 that will roughly double the size of the amenities center, Bullock said. That work will add an activities building and arts center with a theater for shows and lectures, a business center, a workshop where residents can tune up their golf carts, and a pet spa.
Yet another phase to come will fill out 74 acres with a retail center open to the public. Bullock wouldn’t comment on specific retailers being considered. In a story in 2017, The Island Packet reported that the plans included a hotel and a grocery store.
The community’s sales center first opened in January 2017, and the first residents began moving in at the end of 2018.
Two hundred homes have closed, Bullock said, and another 140 are under contract or under construction. This year, though, is off to a strong start with 40 sales since Jan. 1; typically the winter season presents more of a lull.
Ultimately, the community is expected to have between 3,000 to 3,800 homes, he said.
Minto is offering 13 model homes at Latitude Margaritaville Hilton Head, including villas, single-family homes and a group of four newly introduced cottages. Prices range from $209,900 to $299,990.
