Bluffton’s Five Guys is closed, at least for now. Here’s when it will reopen
Diners looking for a cheeseburger and a mountain of french fries at Five Guys in Bluffton are going to be disappointed, at least for the next few months. (Ask me how I know.)
The restaurant’s doors are locked, and a sign offers this explanation: “Closing ... for remodeling.”
The sign says a tentative reopening date is Monday, March 2.
In the meantime, if that craving is worth a drive, Five Guys locations on Hilton Head and in Pooler remain open.
The restaurant opened in Bluffton in 2009 in the Best Buy shopping center, with the Hilton Head location at 11 Palmetto Way following in 2012, according to Island Packet reporting at the time.
Five Guys representatives weren’t immediately available for comment on Tuesday, but a report in a publication on the other side of the country, from West Linn, Oregon, may explain the work being done here.
“Five Guys requires every 10 years to do a remodeling, bringing the store up to current standards — which keep changing,” the Oregon restaurant’s owner told the West Linn Tidings last February.
While there’s no word on specifics about what will change at the Bluffton location, a look through the windows indicates the work is extensive. Flooring and ceiling tiles have been removed, along with interior walls and counters.
