Work has started again on the Kroger at Buckwalter. Here is the new timeline
Work has restarted on a Buckwalter retail development anchored by Kroger, the project developer said Wednesday.
The grocery store along with other retail space is estimated to be completed by mid-2019, Mark Senn, president of Southeastern, said.
Senn said a delay on the development stems from Kroger changing its layout for the store.
“Everything is squared away and they are moving forward,” he said. “It won’t slow down anymore.”
Representatives from Kroger said last spring the store would open in summer 2018. A completion date of mid-2017 also was previously given by the Southeastern.
An outdoor mall including retail space will be built around the store. Other tenants for the retail space remain unknown.
Senn said a few restaurants are in talks about the space.
Technical College of the Lowcountry is also planning a culinary school at the site, Senn said.
