A Beaufort County town has been nominated for this Coastal Living title

Bluffton has been named by Coastal Living magazine as one of America’s Happiest Seaside Towns for 2018.

It is one of 10 towns in the running to take the overall title as “The Happiest Seaside Town in America”.

The magazine opened voting Tuesday. It will run through Feb. 5.

The finalists were decided by comparing Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index, percentage of sunny days, air quality, healthiness of beaches, commute times, crime ratings, walk-ability, standard of living and financial well-being of locals, according to a Coastal Living press release.

Other towns on the list include:

▪  Bellport, NY

▪  Cambria, CA

▪  Cannon Beach, OR

▪  Cape Charles, VA

▪  Hampton/Hampton Beach, NH

▪  Ocean City, NJ

▪  Traverse City, MI

▪  Vera Beach, FL

Hilton Head Island was nominated as a Happiest Seaside Town by the magazine in 2017. It ranked seventh overall.

Beaufort was nominated in 2013 and ranked first overall.
