This landmark Bluffton art gallery will close its doors for good next month
The Filling Station Art Gallery, a fixture in Old Town Bluffton for more than a decade, is closing for good next month.
“I’m going to move to the next chapter,” said owner Bernie Haag in announcing his retirement Feb. 28.
What’s that chapter going to be about? That’s still to be determined, but Haag said he plans to stay in the area.
“I’ve been doing this for 15 years. I’ve enjoyed it,” he said. “It’s just time for me to say goodbye.”
The gallery, located at 3 Lawton St. since a 2015 move from another location just a few blocks away, features the works of more than 60 artists.
Hours until the gallery’s closure are Wednesday though Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Some of the jewelry in the gallery will be marked down, Haag said, but there will not be a closing sale on any of the paintings because those belong to the artists.
Haag said he’d like to invite customers to stop by the gallery and say goodbye.
“To all the people who have been good and loyal customers throughout the years, I would like to say, ‘Thank you.’ ”
