Thirsty? Bluffton mead and cider business expects to fill glasses in September
Bee-Town Mead & Cider LLC will start making its honey-based alcoholic drink next week and hopes to open its doors in September, Mike Tripka, business owner, said Thursday.
The mead production facility at 1230 B May River Road in the Scotts Market complex received its state license last week, Tripka said.
Mead will be sold by the glass or bottles for purchase or by mail order at the site, Tripka has previously said.
Honey is used to ferment the beverage, Tripka said. Local South Carolina ingredients will be used as much as possible, he said.
Other beverages such as apple, pear and peach ciders also will be made at the facility.
