Meet Hilton Head’s first family of Halloween
Many families have traditions when it comes to Halloween, whether it be the neighborhoods to go trick-or-treating, the scary movies to binge or the candy parents grab from their kids’ stash at the end of the night.
But for Hilton Head’s Gómez family, they have a tradition all their own.
As a child, Kety Gómez always loved to dress up for Halloween. That passion didn’t die just because she became a wife and mother. If anything, it grew.
For roughly six years, Kety has been the driving force behind her family’s Halloween group photo. And the theme changes each year.
“I just thought it would be a great idea to do a family group thing,” she said.
Not everyone is always onboard. Sometimes, she admits, the kids need some bribing to follow their mother’s lead.
So does mom dictate their costumes for trick-or-treating?
Nah. They get to wear whatever they want for that, she says.
