Want to see stunning Christmas lights in northern Beaufort Co.? Go to these 3 spots

It may still be a little too toasty in the Lowcountry to be gulping hot cocoa and wearing bulky tacky sweaters, but that hasn’t stopped some northern Beaufort County families from getting into the Christmas spirit.

In Beaufort, one street features multiple decorated homes, including two right across from each other that have so many lights they’re almost blinding. Across the river on Lady’s Island, a cul-de-sac of families transformed their streets into a holiday town of sorts. And between those two streets, there’s plenty of other light sights to see.

Want to see lights in other parts of the county? We have suggestions for Hilton Head and Bluffton.

Downtown Beaufort

If you’re into more classic lights, you’ll find plenty in downtown Beaufort.

In addition to lighted wreaths on all of Bay Street’s poles, the larger walkway with seating between Bay Street and the waterfront is lined with decorated Palmetto trees.

Next to the waterfront, you’ll find a multi-colored light display in the shape of a Christmas tree.

There’s also a large tree next to the marina parking lot that’s strung with large, bright, rainbow lights.

Mink Point Boulevard, Beaufort

Two homes on Mink Point Boulevard directly across the street from each other shine brightly through the night. They’re synchronized with music; one house even has a real-life Santa and elves to greet you as you drive by.

Other neighbors also have joined in the fun with decorations to homes and yards, and a boat in one case, so there’s lots to see along this street.

Springfield Road, Lady’s Island

Three families in a cul-de-sac on Springfield Road have created a Winter Wonderland, complete with real snow from a snow machine.

Candy cane and lollipop lane lead to the homes, where you’ll find Santa’s sleigh, reindeer, winter animals, snowmen, and one display dedicated to “Frozen” characters.

A poster in front of one of the homes says the display uses “tens of thousands of lights” and more than 1,500 feet of extension cords. It also takes $200 to set up and increases the electricity bill by $360, but the “smiles on faces,” the sign says, are “priceless.”

Bonus: As you drive to Springfield Road, you’ll pass multiple homes glowing bright with fun displays.
