Actor Bill Murray spotted at Hilton Head restaurant. What he had for dessert
Actor Bill Murray had dinner at The Quarterdeck on Hilton Head Island on Monday evening and took the time for photos with the staff on the Harbour Town dock.
Another customer at the restaurant snapped a photo of Murray holding a cone of pink ice cream and speaking with people near the bar.
Carol Maier of Hilton Head said she saw the actor come in with his party and recognized him.
Sea Pines Resort posted two photos on its Facebook page Thursday. An outtake posted on The Quarterdeck’s Facebook page appears to show Murray saying something and the people gathered around him laughing.
“You never know who you’ll find at The Sea Pines Resort!,” the post reads. “Actor Bill Murray dined at The Quarterdeck earlier this week and took the time to snap a picture with the team. What do you think he ordered?”
Several commenters on the Sea Pines Facebook post cracked jokes related to Murray’s role as golf course groundskeeper Carl Spackler in the 1980 golf comedy “Caddyshack,” asking whether he killed any gophers.
“He definitely ordered a drink or 3,” wrote one commenter.
“I hope he had the crabcakes! They are to die for!” wrote another.
Murray has a home on Sullivan’s Island in the Charleston area and is co-owner of two restaurants in the Holy City — Harold’s Cabin and Rutledge Cab Co.
The Quarterdeck restaurant is a landmark restaurant on the island located at the base of the Harbour Town Lighthouse. It first opened in 1971 but was demolished in early 2021 and rebuilt just in time for the 2022 RBC Heritage golf tournament at Harbour Town Golf Links.
The restaurant includes indoor and outdoor seating with 270-degree views of Harbour Town Yacht Basin, the 18th hole of Harbour Town Golf Links and the Calibogue Sound.
