Hilton Head’s first archery range now open. Here’s where you can hit the mark

Looking for something to do on Hilton Head Island that offers both a challenge and air conditioning?

An indoor archery range has opened in Palmetto Dunes where you and your family can rent a shooting lane for an afternoon of precision and excitement.

On the Mark Archery is a range based in Boston that has opened the island’s first indoor archery center.

Mark Pirrello, a Level 4 USA Archery instructor, founded the center and will manage the Hilton Head range.

“We are excited to have the chance to showcase an Olympic sport like archery for residents and visitors of Hilton Head Island to experience something unique and totally different,” Pirrello said. “This is an activity that anyone can succeed in with a little patience and focus and although it can take years to master, the fundamentals can be learned within a few dozen shots.”

The range is following coronavirus safety precautions, including:

  • A maximum of 5 people per session
  • Separate targets for each archer
  • Social distancing between assigned shooting lanes
  • Sanitation of all equipment

A single shooting lane can be rented for 45 minutes for $30 per archer. The range is also offering private lessons for individuals and families.

The opening of the archery range on the island represents a diversifying of recreation that has cropped up in recent years, accompanied by businesses such as Zipline Hilton Head, Blue Water Adventure paddle taverns and a proposed go-kart track.
