Pedal-powered booze cruise coming to Hilton Head’s waterways. Here are the details
It’s a party ... on a boat!
Starting Feb. 1, Hilton Head Island’s first-ever pedal tavern is coming to Broad Creek. The floating party boat will have room for 20 people ready to get their cycle on and soak up the Hilton Head sunshine.
The “party cycle boat” is the latest addition to Bluewater Adventure, a rental company that operates out of Shelter Cove Marina and also St. Augustine, Florida.
Two-hour cruises will take participants over 21 years old through Broad Creek on a shaded, pontoon-style boat that has sets of paddles operated by bicycle pedals.
Don’t worry, the boat also has a motor to help the cyclists along.
The company invites passengers to BYOB — bring your own booze — onboard to get the party started. The boat features a sound system for music and yes ... a bathroom for when nature calls.
Tom Thomas, a captain with Bluewater Adventure, says he’s excited for the expansion to Hilton Head and that participants will be able to enjoy all the things that make the island unique.
“The great thing about Shelter Cove is that the nearby waterways are loaded with marine life,” he said. “Not only will they be able to go out and have a good time, but they’ll be able to view the wildlife the area has to offer.”
Groups of 20 will be able to rent out the entire boat, or the floating tavern will take reservations for smaller parties and pair them with others on happy hour tours or firework cruises on Tuesdays in summertime, Thomas said.
Thomas said the two-hour tours will cost $55 per person.
