Former Hilton Head Island Seahawk will play Sunday on ESPNU
Skyler Korinek transferred to Bradenton, Florida's IMG Academy for his senior season because he couldn't pass up the opportunity.
Now the former Hilton Head Island High School long snapper is about to get a little national exposure.
IMG Academy will play Miramar (Fla.) High School at 2 p.m. Sunday as part of the 2015 GEICO ESPN High School Football Kickoff. The game will be televised by ESPNU.
A private training institute, IMG Academy was ranked No. 1 in the nation by MaxPreps before losing 19-7 to American Heritage (Fla.) last week.
Korinek, who had been likely to start for the Seahawks this fall, made the decision to transfer to IMG in May.
"It was one of those opportunities where I had to look at it, what is the best opportunity," Korinek said in May. "I'm going to miss all my friends and my teammates most of all."
The senior said in May he was thankful for the work that the Hilton Head coaching staff put in to make him a better player.
"He's a great kid. He is a great academic student as well," Hilton Head High head coach B.J. Payne said then. "He's got to make the choice that he feels is best for himself and his future, and that's what he feels is best."
