Beaufort’s C.J. Cummings and Dade Stanley competed Friday at the USA Weightlifting U.S. Junior National Championships at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Valley Forge, Pa.
Cummings, 15, won the 69-kilogram class, winning gold in the snatch at 130 kg (286 pounds), clean and jerk at 165 kg (364 pounds) and total lift of 295 kg (650 pounds). He attempted and missed at 135 kg in the snatch and 170 kg twice in the clean and jerk.
Coach Ray Jones said Cummings, who set no personal records, was suffering from a migraine.
Stanley, lifting in the 69 kg group, was a perfect 6-for-6 in his lifts and set personal records in the snatch at 89 kg (196 pounds) and clean and jerk at 114 kg (256 pounds).
