Letter: Boundary Street project a problem
I want to thank the person who wrote the letter, “Stop the project on Boundary Street” and had the guts to speak publicly and not just talk about it with others and stay upset.
I have expressed my concerns about it to the powers that be from the top down, and it all was a laughing matter to them. All this mayor and the County Council see is money, and they think Beaufort can be another Charleston or, better yet, Washington, D.C.
If the real Beaufort people band together, it won’t happen.
The letter also was correct about what the emergency vehicles run into. I have seen problems already. The city law enforcement can’t even patrol in front of Cross Creek shopping center because they are tied up with Boundary Street. My hat is off to all of the men and women who protect this county as they cannot be everywhere all of the time.
No wonder the young people are leaving. Look at what happened at Parris Island. If the Marine Corps hadn’t approved millions of dollars to build a new entry to solve the local traffic problem, would the powers that be in the county, Port Royal, or city of Beaufort approved the funds? No.
