Letter: Writer wrong about Graham and guns

A recent letter about U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham was rude, but more importantly, it was incorrect.

Graham voted FOR the federal background check system for new gun purchases.

He also led the effort to have people deemed mentally incompetent by a court to be added to the background check system so they cannot purchase a gun, a real-life problem that occurred in Charleston a couple of years ago.

To me, Graham has the right position: Protect the constitutional right of responsible citizens to own guns but prevent criminals and mentally incompetent people from buying them.

Graham is a lifelong hunter, owner of guns and champion of our 2nd Amendment right to keep and bear arms. I'm proud that he's my senator and a candidate for president.
