Have there been reports of break-ins in Beaufort County?

Capt. Bob Bromage of the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office said officers have responded to 27 calls of break-ins or burglaries since Gov. Nikki Haley’s evacuation orders were given last Wednesday.

Of those, nine proved to be actual break-in cases.

“Deputies are responding to reports,” Bromage said. “We hope it’s a very low number, based on the curfew and other steps that were taken. But we do anticipate (some incidents).”
