What’s going to happen to the monkeys on Morgan Island?

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases is keeping track of the monkeys on Morgan Island, according to a NIAID statement issued Friday. They are “assessing and securing physical structures and assessing and addressing any animal husbandry and health issues prior to the storm, during the hurricane if conditions allow, and in the immediate aftermath of the storm,” according to the statement.

An emergency response team is on standby to move in if necessary and teams are monitoring storm surge and wind conditions on the island.
