Who can I call if I need transportation to evacuate?
Residents that need transportation away from the coast to evacuate can call the Beaufort County Emergency Management Transportation line at 843-255-4076, according to officials with Palmetto Breeze Transit.
Residents in Beaufort, Bluffton and Hilton Head can call the number for transportation as long as conditions are safe for emergency crews to assist them.
Hilton Head Island residents can also catch a free Palmetto Breeze Transit bus that will leave at 4 p.m. from the BiLo at Port Royal Plaza and go to Ridgeland-Hardeeville High School, which has been converted into a shelter.
Anyone in the area who wants to evacuate but can’t get to Port Royal Plaza must call the dispatch center to request a pickup. That number is 843-682-5125.
All evacuees are reminded to pack bedding, activities for any children, medicine and food for any dietary requirement.
