We heard a rumor that if you leave Lady’s Island after 3 p.m. you won’t be able to return. Is this true?

Not true, though Capt. Bob Bromage of the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office emphasizes that residents get out well ahead of the storm.

“When conditions deteriorate, we recommend people stay off the road,” Bromage said. “There’s going to be danger with tree (branches) over the roads, downed power lines, that type of thing.”
