TV station: Woman reports Lizard Man sighting in Bishopville
Would a woman stepping out of a church lie about spotting Lizard Man?
WCIV, the ABC affiliate based in Charleston, received a cellphone photo from a Sumter woman known only as Sarah who said she snapped it Sunday as she left her Bishopville church. It is a somewhat blurry image showing a lizard-ish man with red eyes, a lizard like face, claw-like hands and feet and a long tail. Sarah told the television station it was running along the tree line.
The sighting was about a mile from Scape Ore Swamp, which is the home of South Carolina's fabled Lizard Man, first spotted in 1988.
The station also reported that a video taken in the swamp in May surfaced Monday. It was created by a local man who said he was out raccoon hunting when he saw a humanoid form in the swamp moving between trees.
"I saw your lizard man story and it's given me the courage to send you a video I took in early May," the man wrote. "Though my wife believes me that it's real, she said she would be embarrassed that everyone would think I was a loon so I kept it a secret."
The video shows a figure in the distance sporting a long tail. The man said he quit filming and ran out of the swamp when the figure turned toward the camera.

The first Lizard Man sighting was reported by Christopher Davis, who stopped along the swamp early one morning to change a flat tire.
The then-17-year-old said a 7-foot creature charged him and jumped on his roof as he drove away.
