If you're looking for a way to jazz up your Thanksgiving weekend, look no further.

The Jazz Corner will feature a "Piano 2 Piano -- Salute to Jazz Piano Greats" show with award-winning musicians Noel Freidline and Martin Lesch from 8 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the club in The Village at Wexford, 1000 William Hilton Parkway, Hilton Head Island.

A regular at The Jazz Corner, Freidline has been the leader of his own group, The Noel Freidline Quartet, since 1991.

He performs regularly with the Charlotte Symphony and with touring Broadway shows such as "Jersey Boys" and "Dream Girls."

His group has opened for such musical stars as Tony Bennett, David Sanborn, Kenny G., Rosemary Clooney and Dave Brubeck, among others.

Lesch also performs regularly at the club and tours. His weekly "Journey Through Jazz" series features a history of jazz including various techniques.

The music charge for the show is $15. Dinner begins at 6 p.m.

For reservations or more information, call 843-842-8620 or visit www.thejazzcorner.com.

Then, for a look at the next generation of young painters and artists, you won't want to miss an upcoming exhibition of student art.

Hosted by the Art League of Hilton Head, the show will feature the work of Art League Academy artists and will also feature an awards show.

The students' work will be judged by Amiri Farris, curator of art for the Gullah Museum of Hilton Head and professor of foundation studies at the Savannah College of Art and Design.

An awards reception for the exhibition is from 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 4 at the Art League Academy, 106 Cordillo Parkway, Hilton Head.

Award winners will be announced at 6 p.m. The exhibit will run through Jan. 23.

CALLING ALL ACTORS AND DIRECTORS

The University of South Carolina Beaufort Center for the Arts will hold open call auditions for "Godspell" at 6 p.m. Dec. 1 at the center at 805 Cateret St., Beaufort.

Known for hits such as "Day by Day," this popular '70s musical, which follows the parables of Jesus, features a long list of popular songs including "Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord," "Learn Your Lessons Well" and "By My Side."

The production will run March 12 and 13 and March 18 to 20.

Those interested in auditioning should prepare a one-minute selection from a contemporary musical or pop song to perform.

Actors are asked to become familiar with the different musical styles from the production but should not sing from the show.

Those auditioning for the ensemble -- not Jesus, John the Baptist or Judas -- should prepare a song that shows personality and vocal ability. They are also asked to bring sheet music. An accompanist will be provided.

A CD with an accompaniment-only track is acceptable, as long as it is edited and cued correctly. A cappella auditions will not be permitted.

Interested parties should also wear or bring comfortable dance attire. Those auditioning will be required to learn a short dance combination and perform a cold reading from the script.

Resumes of onstage experience are welcomed.

In addition, those interested should bring a list of potential conflicts including travel plans. Any conflicts with the posted schedule will be discussed.

For additional information, call 843-521-4145.

And speaking of musicals, Main Street Youth Theatre is looking for someone to direct its next musical.

The nonprofit has plans to run the show June 24 through July 3 and expects rehearsals to begin sometime the week of May 9.

The group will wait until a director is chosen before determining the production.

For more information, contact Sheri Sternitzke at 843-338-6230.
