Jasper County homicide victim identified

Authorities have identified the victim of Friday's mobile home shooting as a 40-year-old Ridgeland man.

Alexander Smith was shot about 8 p.m. Friday at the Midway Circle Mobile home Park on S.C. 170 and pronounced dead at Coastal Carolina Hospital, according to Jasper County Coroner Martin Sauls and the Jasper County Sheriff's Office.

Detectives called in the S.C. Law Enforcement Division to aid in the investigation after determining the crime scene extended outside the mobile home park.

No one had been charged in the death as of Sunday.
