Juvenile suspect in July Coligny Park fatal shooting awaits psychological evaluation
The 15-year-old suspect in the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Dominique Williams on July 19 is awaiting an evaluation from the S.C. Department of Juvenile Justice, according to the 14th Circuit Solicitor's Office.
The department will evaluate the juvenile's maturity, Solicitor Duffie Stone said Tuesday, before his office receives a report from a family court judge.
From there, the judge will schedule a hearing to determine whether the suspect should remain in family court or be tried as an adult, Stone said.
Stone said he does not have a timeline for when the hearing will happen.
Williams was shot to death a day after he and the suspect were in a fight at the Cordillo Courts apartment complex, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.
The suspect is being held at a state department of juvenile justice facility in Columbia, Stone said.
