A Hilton Head Island woman was struck and killed in an early morning hit-and-run crash Sunday, according to a report from the S.C. Highway Patrol.
The woman was struck by an unknown vehicle while she was walking in the roadway of South Forest Beach Drive near Bayberry Lane at 3:09 a.m., the report said. The woman was identified as 34-year-old Jenny Mercer of Hilton Head by Beaufort County Deputy Coroner Tim Wolf.
Mercer was wearing dark-colored clothing when she was hit, the report said.
No information was available on the vehicle that struck Mercer. The vehicle was traveling eastbound on South Forest Beach Drive when it hit her, the report said.
