Bluffton man enters estranged wife’s home with a knife, police say. She had a gun
Shots were fired in a Bruin Road home Tuesday evening after an altercation between an estranged husband and wife.
A 46-year-old man was charged with second degree domestic violence and malicious injury to property after he entered the home of his estranged wife, uninvited with a knife, according to a release from the Bluffton Police Department, .
Out of fear, the wife fired her gun as a warning shot, Bluffton Police Department spokeswoman Joy Nelson said in the release.
The man also damaged a vehicle in the driveway. The knife and firearm were recovered at the scene, according to Nelson.
Bluffton Police responded at 8:30 p.m. and immediately created a perimeter outside of the home, Nelson said. The Bluffton Police Department Strategic Response Team also entered the home to ensure no one remained indoors.
The Island Packet and The Beaufort Gazette do not typically name individuals charged with misdemeanor offenses.
