Fire damages Lady’s Island mobile home

A Lady’s Island mobile home on Rue De Bois caught fire around 2 p.m. on Tuesday. There were no injuries and no one was home during the fire.

The fire is believed to have been caused by a faulty electrical outlet in the kitchen, Lady’s Island - St. Helena Island Fire District Public Information Officer Scott Harris said.

A neighbor saw smoke coming from the home and called 911, Harris said.

When firefighters arrived, the door was locked and no one was home. They forced entry to extinguish the fire which had already caused “extensive” damage throughout the home from heat and smoke as well as fire damage in the kitchen.
