Ridgeland man, 23, fatally shot early Saturday

A 23-year-old Ridgeland man was fatally shot on Ridgeland’s East Main Street early Saturday morning.

Police called to the area of East Main and Adams streets about 12:50 a.m. found Davonte Quentin Freeman unresponsive, with one gunshot wound to the head, a Ridgeland Police Department news release said.

Freeman was airlifted to Savannah Memorial Hospital in critical condition and later died from his injuries.

An investigation is ongoing.
